I’m 34 years old and I live in Helsingborg, in the south of
Sweden. I’m married to my high school sweet heart and we have four wonderful
sons- two sets of twins, aged 5 and 7. For as long as I can remember, my dream
has been to become a mother! It really is my greatest passion! However, it
didn’t exactly work out the way I planned. Having four babies in a period of
two years is hard enough, but unfortunately, they were also born prematurely with
severe complications and illnesses. Luckily, I suppose, I have my professional
background in healthcare; I am a registered nurse, so I have been able to take
care of their medical needs mostly from home. However, after a few really rough
years, I had a complete emotional and physical breakdown. Although this was a
horrible time, it taught me a valuable lesson that I needed to change my
priorities and my lifestyle. I knew that I needed to make a change in my career
to be able to work from home and care for my family, but I had no idea what I
wanted to do instead of nursing.
I suppose you could say that I stumbled across the network
marketing industry by accident. I was intrigued, but skeptical. With two one
year old’s and two three year old’s (with special needs), I didn’t have the
time or energy to start anything new, but I decided to start building a
business very ”low key” in accordance with my very limited preconditions. I did
a lot of research before I chose which company I wanted to work with, and it
was an easy choice: Forever Living Products. I absolutely liked the aloe vera
products, but I’m definitely no sales person… however, I fell in love with the
marketing plan and the opportunities of building a homebased business with a
substantial passive income. Forever had the best marketing plan in the
industry, and had a stable background and 40 years of successful growth. I also
liked the fact that I was able to work in all of Forevers 160 countries across
I started my business out during my maternity leave, with
only about 20 minutes a day, for example when the kids were napping or after
their bedtime. After a few months, I went back to my job as a nurse at the
hospital, and worked there 32 hours a week, along with a few hours a week of ”Forever-time”.
After a total of 10 months, I quit my job and went full-time with my Forever
business. I started working about 15 hours a week with Forever, from home,
using social media, skype and webinars as my main platforms. I grew my team
steadily and my income increased every month. Now, four years later, I still
only work around 10-15 hours a week, but have a steady, passive income. My job
today consists mainly of leading and coaching my large global team, but also
headhunting and recruiting new leaders to the company and helping them get
started in the business.
So, I guess you could say that I’m not quite an
entrepreneur, but an INTRApreneur. I have build my own business but with an
established company. It’s like franchise, but without the pressure or the
My best advice to others who are in the start of their
businesses or who are thinking of starting their own business is to JUST DO IT!
There is no such thing as perfect timing, you just have to take the first step.
Work on your ”WHY”- find out what your drive is and decide if you’re truly
willing to do what it takes. Without a strong why, you’ll give in to your
excuses and give up. You’ll need to work on your mindset and be patient- great
things take time! Also, find a mentor- someone who has already accomplished
what you want to accomplish, and take their advice!
